MOBICAM DT 20MG TABLET belongs to the group of medications known as NSAID’s (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) used to relieve symptoms like pain, inflammation and joint stiffness caused by rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease in which the two ends of the joints come together due to the breakdown of a protective covering (cartilage). Due to the absence of this protective covering, the joints rub against each other, leading to pain and stiffness. Rheumatoid arthritis is an auto-immune disease (body’s immune system attacks its tissue), leading to joint pain and damage.
MOBICAM DT 20MG TABLET works by blocking the effect of a chemical messenger in your body, known as cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzymes that make another chemical ‘prostaglandins’ (PG). These prostaglandins are produced at injury sites and cause pain and swelling. By blocking the effect of COX enzymes, lesser PGs are produced, which reduces mild to moderate pain and inflammation at the injured or damaged site.
MOBICAM DT 20MG TABLET can be taken with a meal or empty stomach. The capsule form of MOBICAM DT 20MG TABLET should not be chewed, broken, or crushed, rather swallowed as a whole with a glass of water. Take MOBICAM DT 20MG TABLET at the same time every day. The injection form of MOBICAM DT 20MG TABLET will be administered by a healthcare professional. Do not self-administer. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as diarrhea, dizziness, headache and heartburn. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to speak to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.
MOBICAM DT 20MG TABLET can increase your risk of fatal heart attack or stroke. So, if you have had any recent heart bypass surgery, do not take MOBICAM DT 20MG TABLET. MOBICAM DT 20MG TABLET increases the chances of stomach ulcers and bleeding. To treat your condition effectually, continue taking MOBICAM DT 20MG TABLET for as long as your doctor has prescribed. To avoid recurring symptoms, do not stop it midway. Drug Interactions
DRUG-DRUG INTERACTIONS: PIROXICAM may have interaction with ibuprofen, naproxen, and aspirin (used to relieve pain), duloxetine (used to treat depression), metoprolol, atenolol, and lisinopril (used to treat high blood pressure), warfarin (used to prevent blood clotting), celecoxib, prednisone, and meloxicam (used to treat arthritis), sertraline (used to treat depression), and drugs used to treat high blood pressure and fluid retention.
FOOD-DRUG INTERACTIONS: Avoid consuming alcohol along with PIROXICAM as it could lead to increased drowsiness and dizziness. It could also lead to increase in the risk of stomach bleeding.
DRUG-DISEASE INTERACTION: PIROXICAM should not be given in patients with heart failure, fluid retention (edema), asthma, gastrointestinal ulcer/bleeding, high blood pressure, hyperkalemia (high levels of potassium), thrombosis (formation of clots), anemia (low red blood cells), rash, platelet aggregation inhibition, kidney and liver problems.

ALCOHOL
You are recommended to avoid alcohol consumption while taking PIROXICAM . Alcohol intake, along PIROXICAM may cause increased drowsiness and drowsiness. It may also cause increase in the risk of stomach/intestine ulcer and bleeding.
